True Blue Power announced the FAA has granted an STC for the company’s TB17 (17-amp hour) lithium-ion batteries on Robinson R44 Helicopters, Along with the STC for the TB44 (44-amp hour) lithium-ion battery for the Bombardier Dash 8-300 and Cessna Caravan. This is the first STC granted by the FAA for lithium-ion battery use as a primary electrical power source, including engine starts.
The TB17 (17-amp hour) is now available for the Robinson R44!
Ideal for the piston, turbine, and emergency power market, the TB17 Advanced Lithium-ion Battery starts the aircraft’s engine quickly and features superior energy density — Nanophosphate® lithium-ion cells offer 3x the energy per kilogram, resulting in a battery that is 45% lighter than lead-acid or nickel-cadmium alternatives.
The TB44 (44-amp hour) is now available for the Bombardier Dash 8-300 and Cessna Caravan.
The TB44 Advanced Lithium-ion Battery is engineered to deliver 40% weight savings and an overall lower cost of ownership, with 50–90% less scheduled maintenance cost, 2-year maintenance intervals, efficient engine starts and 2-3x longer useful battery life. The TB44 is ideal for the turbine market, including fixed-wing, rotorcraft, and emergency power applications.
